In fact, it's hard to say when and where my adventure with creating natural cosmetics began. And even more - where did it all start, because the use and creation of natural cosmetics is only part of a larger whole. It is a consequence of the needs that have arisen in us, the choices we make and the way we live.

Before my studies, I spent a few months in Bavaria. The local approach to taking care of the environment, consumer awareness and responsibility (it was there that I saw people unpacking cosmetics at the checkouts and leaving cardboard packaging to the cashier, taking only the contents - to signal to producers that they do not need additional cardboard boxes!), as well as far-reaching concrete actions out of concern for the environment, they left a huge mark on me and it became obvious to me that this is the only and right way.

First experience with natural cosmetics

Regardless of this, having sensitive and allergic skin, for years I was looking for cosmetics that would not irritate it. My regular visits to Germany gave me the opportunity to learn about natural cosmetics and natural household chemistry many years ago - when they were not yet available in Poland. It was a surprise for me how my capricious skin reacts great to most of them.

At the same time, I started making simple cosmetics myself - soaps, bath balls, and then scrubs based on shea butter, butters, creams and ointments. The world of oils, macerates and extracts drew me in more and more and never did gaining knowledge give me so much pleasure. This was quickly joined by the collection and processing of herbs, the absorption of subsequent books about the functioning of the skin and the processes that take place in it, the use of natural raw materials in cosmetics. I started running workshops on creating cosmetics and ... I wanted to stay at that - because watching the happiness that explodes when a man makes his own cosmetic was the greatest pleasure for me.

Sometimes fate puts people in our path who influence our lives and become a catalyst for change. I have met such people as well. They convinced me and gave me the courage to dress my cosmetics in the name of the brand and take them to you. I try to make BIOUP cosmetics support the skin in accordance with its natural rhythm. How is a new cosmetic born?

Own idea overheard comment or suggestion and the outline of a new product is created. How should it work? What do we expect from him? And sometimes quite the other way around – we learn about the unique properties of a raw material or extract, which become an inspiration and the idea arises that it needs to be used, followed by ideas with what to combine, how to strengthen its effect. 

Selection of raw materials and suppliers

Choosing, or it would be more accurate to write "finding" suppliers is not easy. We are a small company. We do not buy 200 kg of oil, but we want to have the best and freshest raw material, not one that went through a chain of intermediaries and was kept in the warehouse of everyone. We also want to know the source, method of distillation/pressing and obtain certificates of organic origin, ecological origin of the oils, extracts and distillates we use as proof. We know from experience that the same oil from different countries or from different manufacturers can differ significantly in properties, and we care about quality and we are not willing to compromise here. Sometimes it is not the complexity of the recipe, but focusing on the quality of the selected ingredients that determines the effectiveness of the finished cosmetic. Anyway, this phenomenon is well known to anyone who cares about nutrition - a vegetable from organic farming, growing and ripening at its own pace, tastes differently than a vegetable from a supermarket. It is the same with oils and other plant materials - only few people have such awareness and the ability to compare.
